We are the Priests of the Sacred-Heart of Jesus, a religious congregation of the Roman Catholic Church founded on the 28th June 1878 in Saint-Quentin (Northern-France) by the venerable servant of God, Reverend Father Leo John Dehon.
We are Dehonians, we work with a common heart in service to God’s people, reflecting the love of Christ as experienced by our founder, Fr. Leo John Dehon. Nourished by the Eucharist, we are called to live together and to be prophets of love and servants of reconciliation of men and the world in Christ (cf. 2 Co 5, 18).
Our ministries are diversified, we work in parishes, with the youth, the poor, and the workers, also in the educational sector, not forgetting promotion of justice and peace in our society etc.
In all the 43 countries in which we are present we seek to serve people from all facets of the society, yet always with a preferential option for the poor. Our aim is to make known the love of God through the Heart of Jesus to all people, even to the less privileged and vulnerable in the society.
The congregation of the Priests of the Sacred-Heart of Jesus has been present in Cameroun for more than 100 years.
For history sake, the first missionaries of our congregation arrived in Cameroon on the 30th November 1912. As they arrived, they started spreading the word of God in the non-evangelized lands of the Northern and Western Cameroon. They contributed with their untiring and courageous work to the birth and growth of the Church in our country.
Today, after 100 years in Cameroon, we continue to work for the glory of God and in the service of the Church in some dioceses like; Nkongsamba, Bafoussam, Yaounde, Obala, Kumbo, Bamenda, Douala and Yagoua.
