On December 08th 2018, as usual the holy church our mother gives us to celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Dehon’s Formation House/ Bamenda celebrated it with all the solemnity it deserves. Gathered for the Saturday mass at O6 pm, the mass was chaired by Fr Jean Paul LABOU, SCJ and concelebrated by Fr Guy Bertrand WABO, SCJ.

Deacon Prosper KUNSE, all the religious and pre-postulants attentively listen the homily of the main celebrant. Fr Jean Paul began by praising God in a song for his marvellous love for humanity. For says the preacher, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception can be resumed in one sentence: the love of God for humanity. God preserved the Virgin Mary of the original sin for the birth of our saviour. He continued by saying that, it is an occasion for us to be conscious of our human frailty and strive towards holiness. In the first reading taking from the book of Genesis, sin entered the world due to temptation, thus creating a distance between God and man. Afterwards he invited us to repentance, sin should not be the final stage of our life; confidence should always guides and leads us to our creator. St Paul in his letter to the Ephesians confirms the fact that we are sons of God through Jesus. Fr Jean Paul ends by calling our attention on the fact that, even though it was God’s action to Mary, she wilfully collaborated by her fiat “I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done unto me according to your will”.

Therefore Mary should be our model. We are invited to imitate the Virgin Mary’ example in collaborating to God’s projects in our lives and being signs of God’s presence for our brothers and sisters.

After mass all the community joyfully continued the solemnity in community activities.
