It was in September 2018 that they arrived at the Dehon’s Formation House, Bamenda (Cameroon) for starting the pre-postulancy. Four months have passed during which the pre-postulants of the Cameroon province experienced a prayerful time helped and accompanied in their vocational discernment by their formators and others confreres living in the community. By the grace of God seven of them have been admitted into the postulancy by the provincial superior and his council.
The great day was on Wednesday, January 9, 2018 for the seven pre-postulants to do officially another step with Christ into the postulancy (pre-novitiate). The mass which started at 6am in the community chapel was celebrated by the provincial superior Rev. Fr. Jean Marie Signie and concelebrated by the provincial councilors, the postulancy master Rev. Fr. Charles Aime Koudjou and other dehonian priests present.
The homely done by the provincial vicar Rev. Fr. David Tatchago drove both the confreres and the pre-postulants into a meditation on the vocation that we all share as disciple of Christ. The preacher called especially the pre-postulants to entrust themselves to Christ during their vocational journey and to have confidence on their formators who are with them to help them in their spiritual discernment. During mass the postulants with an amazing joy received the dehonian cross, sign of our dehonianity and the spiritual directory of our congregation which will lead them in their daily life.
The liturgy of this mass was well prepared by the scholastic confreres of the Dehon’s Formation House, a community that contains both the scolasticate and the postulancy. After mass a lunch was offered by the community and this has been musically animated by the community orchestra. And the day ended up with the departure of the provincial administration and the other confreres.
